Africa's Killer Birds
Africas Killer Birds is a quick look at the smallest bird of prey and also a bird that has prehistoric tendencies.
The pygmy falcon (Polihierax semitorquatus) is the smallest raptor in Africa. These small birds of prey can pack a huge punch when the swoop down on their victims.
The secretary bird (Sagittarius serpentarius) is a very large bird of prey that spends most of its life hunting on the ground. It is a popular bird and it is used for logos and on government emblems. Some think the name came from the quill like feathers behind its neck that may resemble pens behind a secretarys ears. But they also feel it could have gotten its name from the French/Arabic tem saqr-et-tair or the hunter bird.
