THE LORD IS A STRONG SHIELD FOR HIS PEOPLE

THE LORD IS A STRONG SHIELD FOR HIS PEOPLE

Even the sparrow has found a home,

And the swallow a nest for herself,

Where she may lay her young—

Even Your altars, O LORD of hosts,

My King and my God.

Blessed are those who dwell in Your house;

They will still be praising You.

(Psalm 84:3-4)

I have a little bird's nest on my property. A bluebird has made her home in one of bird boxes left by the former owner. Mama bird has now given birth to four babies- I know, because I peeked into the box and there they were, four newly born little baby bluebirds!

Only problem, the bird box is open on top, and when it rains, I fear the baby birds will get wet and cold, (and perhaps die) as the box is not shielded from the elements, rain included. This quite concerned me as to why mama bird would choose to build her nest in an open air box. I don't understand bird logic.

Well this morning, I went to peek into the box to see if the baby birds were alright, and there was Mama bluebird sitting on top of her babies, sheilding them from the elements with her body. I couldn't even see the babies beneath her.

That gave me some sense of relief to see that they were protected and kept safe.

In the same way, those who have entrusted themselves to Yahweh's tender care, are shielded by His strength and kept safe when the elements come against them.

For the LORD God is a sun and shield;

The LORD will give grace and glory;

No good thing will He withhold

From those who walk uprightly.

(Psalm 84:11)

The Lord God loves the righteous, and His ear is turned towards them when they cry, and He delivers them out of all their troubles. But the wicked He shall cut off, because they do not trust in Him or His tender care.

I'd rather be hiding under His wings where it is safe and warm, than be exposed to the elements and perish.
